Capitol Centennial Celebration
South Dakota’s most recognized building is turning 100 and
you’re invited to join in the celebration! Bring the family
to the Capitol Centennial Celebration, Saturday, June 19,
2010 on the grounds of the State Capitol Building, and enjoy
a day of festivities honoring a revered South Dakota
landmark.
Get a firsthand look at this amazing structure and hear its
story with historical tours and seminars. Step back in time
to witness the dedication of the Capitol Building during a
special re-enactment. Share in the free picnic lunch on the
Capitol grounds. Browse the antique vehicle show and a
Capitol-themed art show featuring South Dakota artists. The
kids will thrill to the kite festival and have a chance to
reel in the big one with kids’ fishing on Capitol Lake. And
it wouldn’t be a celebration without a performance by the
Capital City Band. New activities are being added daily so
be sure to check back often for updates.
See you June 19, 2010 for the Capitol Centennial
Celebration at the State Capitol Building and grounds.
